Isomerization technology in partnership with KBR Inc.

One of the main products developed by “RRT” is a package of technologies for isomerisation of fractions C4, C5-C6, C7.
The approach applied by “RRT” specialists in development of isomerization technologies is based on combination of reaction and rectification processes. This solution allows the Customer to significantly reduce capital costs for construction of the plant and, at the same time, reduce operating costs. The effect is achieved through the organization of internal cycles in a single unit.

Since August 2019, the isomerization technologies developed by “RRT” have been licensed by KBR under the trade name MAX-ISOM™.

The product of MAX-ISOM™ unit (isomerizate of fractions C5-C6, C6-C7) meets the requirements of modern ecological standards and can be used for preparation of gasoline of EURO 5,6, MSAT-2 classes. Isomerizate C5-C7 has a high octane number and is characterized by the absence of benzene, olefins and other limited by standards impurities. The ability to involve fractions containing C7 components in the processing is one of the key features of the MAX-ISOM™ process.

MAX-ISOM™ isomerization technology of C4 fraction allows producing isobutane of the highest purity, which can be used both for alkylate production and in petrochemical processes.

“RRT” has carried out development of technological embodiment for each technology of MAX-ISOM™ family, development of process catalysts and design of the combined apparatus. Availability of a pilot plant, which reproduces the process with the required degree of accuracy, allows to test batches of raw materials of the Customer, to work out variants of different raw materials and to train the personnel of the plant operator.

Catalysts, which are the heart of the MAX-ISOM™ process, are recyclable and have relatively high resistance to poisons. This allows to reduce the risks of the Customer, arising from possible deviations in the composition of raw materials and/or operating mode of the previous plants. The catalysts are not chlorinated and do not require chlorine to be fed with organics.
